Without fair trials, Aung San Suu Kyi and the more than 1000 political prisoners are still languishing in Burmese jails.

Aung San Suu Kyi has spent more than 11 of the past 17 years under house arrest despite the international community's clamor for her immediate and unconditonal release.

The '8888 Faces to Free Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and All Prisoners of Conscience in Burma' is a visual petition where people can show support by affix their signatures, submit photos, or self portraits online or during activities by the Free Burma Coalition Philippines and the Initiatives for International Dialogue.

It will be recalled that in September of 2007, thousands of people including monks, women, youth and students, and ordinary citizens flooded the streets of central Burma caused by the sudden increase in fuel prices.

The peoples of Burma issued three demands that include improvement of people's economic contiditon, a genuine national reconcilliation and the release of all political prisoners in Burma. The protest however turned into a bloody massacre after the Burmese military junta ordered dispersal of peacefully protesting monk and civilians.
